On July 15, 2022, Putrino Lab announced that it had been turned down by the NIH for a grant to study microclots in long covid. Patients have been left angry and baffled by the lack of funding by the NIH. Microclots have been proposed as a possible biomarker for long covid because several research groups have identified microclots in patients with ME/CFS.
According to the Census Bureau's Pulse Survey, there are an estimated 16 million Americans living with long Covid as of Jan. 2022. It is not known how many long haulers have ME/CFS as a result of the Covid virus, but symptoms are similar in many cases.
The U.S. has updated the ICD-10-CM to enable accurate tracking of people with ME/CFS.
Congratulations to Mary Dimmock who worked for more than a decade on the code change. In addition, seven ME/CFS organizations joined together to push the change over the finish line.
We can now be accurately counted by governments and researchers.
Many people with long covid will never recover unless new treatments are developed. It will take massive efforts from governments around the world to save mankind from this devastating disease.
Simon Wessely's faulty psychological theories about ME/CFS have led to the greatest medical scandal of the 21st century. His discredited research should be retracted immediately because it harms patients and taints research.
Simon Wessely has a big decision to make. Will he stand up and admit that his theories were incorrect, or will he drown in the sea of research that has proven him wrong?
